Lake Jackson Tuition-Free K-12 Online School

Golden Crane Digital Academy is a tuition-free online public school for students in grades K-12, and families in Lake Jackson and the greater Brazosport area can enroll from home. Students attend live classes with Texas-certified teachers, follow a state-aligned curriculum, and work with a dedicated Educational Concierge. Golden Crane is a campus of Crane ISD and is accredited through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and by Cognia.

This page explains what the program offers, how families are supported, how funding works, and how to enroll.

A Brazosport Online School Option Backed by Texas Public School Standards

Golden Crane gives Brazoria County families a public school option that students attend fully online. Every enrolled student becomes a transfer student of Crane ISD. The curriculum follows the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the state standards used in every Texas public school.

Families who want an alternative to a traditional campus can keep the structure of a full public school program. Students follow a set schedule of live classes and complete self-paced work around those sessions. Golden Crane students also take required state assessments, just as students do at any Texas public school.

Learning at Every Grade Level

Golden Crane's curriculum adapts as students grow, and the level of parent involvement changes along with it. A Learning Coach, usually a parent or guardian, supports daily learning in partnership with teachers.

Elementary School (K-5)

Elementary students learn through live lessons, independent activities, and hands-on projects, supported by materials shipped to the home. Screen time stays balanced, and Learning Coaches typically spend about 4 to 6 hours per day guiding younger students. Families with young children can read our article on whether an elementary student can thrive in online school in Texas.

Middle School (6-8)

Middle school students take more ownership of their learning and build time management skills. They study core subjects along with electives, and career exploration activities introduce them to different paths. Learning Coaches typically spend about 2 to 4 hours per day providing oversight.

High School (9-12)

High school students manage much of their own schedule with guidance from teachers and counselors. They can take AP courses, earn college credit through dual credit opportunities, and receive college and career counseling. Learning Coaches typically spend about 1 to 3 hours per day monitoring progress.

Real-World Learning and Career Readiness

Project-Based Learning lets students explore, create, and solve real-world challenges while mastering academic content. Projects build critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Students also have room to pursue topics they care about.

Career-Connected Learning prepares students for life after graduation. Students explore careers through projects and case studies, and high school students can access internships, mentorships, and industry certifications in fields like technology, healthcare, and business.

Support From Your Educational Concierge

Every family is paired with an Educational Concierge who serves as a dedicated guide from the first day of enrollment. Your concierge helps with onboarding, plans courses around your child's strengths and goals, and checks in regularly to keep students engaged. Concierges also lead clubs, activities, and weekly engagement opportunities that help students feel part of a community.

Students with an IEP or 504 plan receive appropriate accommodations and services. Families share this information during enrollment so the special education team can put a support plan in place.

Tuition-Free and Publicly Funded

Golden Crane is a publicly funded campus of Crane ISD, so families pay no tuition. There are no enrollment fees or hidden costs for core educational services. Families do not need scholarships or financial aid to enroll.
